About Annalee Jefferies
Ms. Jefferies was in the nine hour trilogy of Horton Foot's "Orphan's Home Cycle" in NY, directed by Michael Wilson, which won the Drama Desk and Tony awards for "Theatrical Event of the Season" of 2010 . She's played Blanche in "Streetcar Named Desire," Violet in " Suddenly Last Summer", Hannah in "Night of the Iguana", Carol in "Orpheus Descending,", Amanda in "The Glass Menagerie" which was among the Wall Street Journal's best 10 productions of 2009. She toured England in John Barton's ten hour epic Tantalus, directed by Sir Peter Hall. She spent 20 years as a resident company member at the Alley Theatre (1986-2007) and 3 years as a resident company member at the Arena Stage (1978-1981). Her film credits include Hellion , Arlo and Julie, The Sideways Light, The Girl, Monsters, Violets Are Blue, and No Mercy. Television- Last 2 episodes of "Dallas" 2013, PBS Doc. Annalee Jefferies started acting at the Twelfth Night Community Theatre in Brisbane, Australia when she was 10 years old. She studied drama under June Smith at Bellaire High and under Sidney Berger and Cecil Pickett at the University of Houston (Pickett also coached other notable actors including Cindy Pickett, his daughter, Randy Quaid, Dennis Quaid, Brent Spiner, Trey Wilson, Robert Wuhl and Thomas Schlamme). Her formal training also included 2 years at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.Her most noted roles during 17 seasons with the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas are Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire, the title role in Hedda Gabler, Harper in Angels in America, Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Marion in Danton's Death. During her time at the Alley, she has also performed in over 15 productions across the nation and abroad.Most recently she played a lizard in Edward Albee's Seascape and took a sabbatical from the Alley during the 2000-2001 season to perform Clytemnestra, Helen of Troy and Andromache in John Barton's 10-hour epic Tantalus, directed by Sir Peter Hall, which originated at Denver Center Theatre Company (co-produced by the RSC) and had a five-month UK tour. Prior to the Alley Theatre, she spent three years as a company member at the Arena Stage Theater in Washington D.C. She lived in New York City for five years working at local and regional theatres.Her film and television credits include No Mercy, Violets Are Blue, Ned Blessing, Walker Texas Ranger, L.A. Law, and Charlie's Angels....
