About Brian Groh
A Rescue Diver and Dive Master, Brian is a decorated member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxilliary for his Search and Rescue efforts on the Alaskan Airlines crash off the coast of Ventura, California. However, his life began far from the California coast and the boat he now lives on. Brian grew up raising livestock and breaking horses on a farm in the wooded valleys of Missouri with his younger brother and two sisters. His father and mother were natives of New York who bravely abandoned their city lives to embrace a rural lifestyle in the middle of the Ozarks. Early on Brian joined organizations like the Missouri Spleological Society for cave exploration and other volunteer rescue organizations that have lead to his current participation in coastal programs like Santa Monica's Heal the Bay and Kelp Reforestation projects. As an actor he's starred in independent features and been written up in Variety magazine as best cast in Bill Fishman's "Dinner with Jimi" playing the role of John Lennon. In Rich Brunton's "Mosaics," Brian accepted the Silver Medal for Best Dramatic feature at Houston's Worldfest 2002. In an ongoing effort, he's starring in a film based on his own hitchhiking journal across the United States and Canada scheduled to be finished and ready for festivals in 2006. Oh yeah, he dances a hell of a Tango.::Kirk Delisle
Brian grew up in the Ozark Highlands of Missouri, raising livestock and working horses alongside his three siblings of similar age. It is fitting then, that his first television appearance featured him riding on the fender of a tractor through a hay-field. His filmography and TV appearances reveal a consistent theme of blue collar roles that mirror the many odd jobs Brian held before turning to acting late in his 20's. Although more familiar with rural accents and mid-western sensibilities, it was his portrayal of John Lennon that rewarded him a write-up in Variety magazine as being "best cast" in Bill Fishman's "Dinner with Jimi." Successfully playing a character so far from his lineage properly vets this actor from the Ozarks. Still, you'll more likely see him atop a horse (Val Kilmer's Wyatt Earp's Revenge) as Westerns are more in line with this actor's heritage and great interest in that dramatic period of American history....
