About Dean Cain
Dean Cain, originally named Dean George Tanaka, was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan. His introduction to Hollywood came early on when his mother Sharon Thomas Cain married his adoptive father, director Christopher Cain, when he was just three years old. Growing up in Malibu and attending Santa Monica High School, Cain had a different passion in mind: professional football.
While studying at Princeton, he not only majored in history but also caught the attention of the media by dating the renowned Brooke Shields for two years. Additionally, Cain set a record for interceptions in a season, solidifying his status as a standout athlete.
Unfortunately, a severe knee injury halted his dreams of a professional football career after signing with the Buffalo Bills. But in the face of adversity, Cain decided to pursue acting, making his debut in his father's film, The Stone Boy, in 1984.
From there, Cain ventured into commercials and television shows, making notable appearances in the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. However, his big break came in 1993 when he was cast as the iconic Superman/Clark Kent in the beloved series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
