About Geeta Citygirl Chopra
A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the City College of New York, her acting, directing and producing credits range from the stage to the screen. This native New Yorker founded Salaam Theatre, the first South-Asian-American performing arts institution in the world. She currently serves as Salaam's Artistic Director.Her contributions to the arts community in general, and the South-Asian community specifically, have long been recognized. She joined the likes of Richard Schiff of TV's The West Wing, and best-selling author Walter Mosley, when she was selected to be the chief guest speaker at the 20th Annual CCNY Honors Convocation. She served as an emcee at the 24th Annual Asian Heritage Festival, in Union Square-the largest Pan-Asian outdoor event on the East coast, which was attended by over ten thousand people. She hosts New York's Annual Tagore Festival, and a popular weekly salon presented by Salaam Theater. She's been featured in magazines and news dailies all over the country, and was even named one of the 'Top 100 New Yorkers of the Year' in 2003, by the New York Resident.::Anonymous
Personal life:Geeta is the firstborn child of Asha and Raj. She has two siblings. Born and raised in New York, she spent two decades in Manhattan before moving with her child to the suburbs of the city. They live with their adopted cat, feline sister.Her first marriage in 2005 ended in a divorce.She and pareja (partner) Jennifer M. Flores were together till 2019. Each woman has 1 child.She is a vegetarian, and on-and-off vegan.As a devoted community activist and in the service of the arts, she volunteers and supports several community groups, arts organizations, museums, galleries, etc...board member of Westbury Arts. advisory board member for Silk Road Rising.Union member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.::The Ubiquitous Group
