About Jerry Beharry
Jerry Beharry grew up in a racially diverse, but rough area known as Dorchester, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. Jerry is the oldest son of Roy, a former chef turned business owner, and Zennifer Beharry (Mohammed) a PBX operator. Jerry has a younger sister, Jennifer, and also has an older half-brother, Roy, from his father's previous marriage prior meeting his mother. Both parents were of Caribbean descent, having been born and raised in Trinidad, an island nation in the West Indies.Raised in a strict Caribbean household, thoughts of things such as acting and voiceover work were not seen as 'realistic' life goals. To immigrant parents who left everything behind to find a better life in The United States, the only career options for him would be 'white-collar', as his parents wanted to ensure that he never had to suffer for anything they way they had to during their childhood. His parents sometimes worked multiple jobs in pursuit of providing their children the life they were never able to have as kids. As such, the budding interests in the entertainment industry that Jerry had in his youth could never fully be pursued. HIs parents knew that the odds of making a decent living in that world were slim, and to give him a decent shot, they also knew that they'd likely need to send him to special schools, specializing in performing arts, theater, and the like. They simply didn't have the means to provide him with that kind of support.Jerry's parents relocated the family from their rough neighborhood in 1988, bound for Kissimmee, Florida. It was a different world for the Beharry family, but especially for Jerry, who began to show strong academic promise, which was something the he was unable to prioritize while growing up dealing with the day-to-day violence in his former hometown. In Florida, Jerry would later attend a startup high school as a freshman in 1991, which didn't yet have a campus, and instead existed on the campus of another high school, in portable/trailer classrooms. By the next year, his fledgling class made their way onto their own campus, but a theater was not to be constructed during his time there. There was no mature or established theater program, and as a result, he shifted all of his focus to sports (football and baseball). After graduation in 1995 in the top 2% of his class, he would go on to pursue Pre-Med studies at the University level, double-majoring in both Biology and Psychology, and after 4 years, earned both degrees in 1999. It was at this time that he realized that his medical pursuits were not truly his desire, and he then set out on a path to find a way to make a living until he could figure out what he wanted to do.After graduation, and without a clear path to follow, Jerry would spend a brief stint in homelessness as he lived out of his car, but due to his immense pride and independent nature, he refused to let any family or friends know of his situation. During that time, he managed to land a job as a customer service representative for a major telecommunications company. During this time, he continued to live in his car, spending his nights in a remote corner of the parking lot. As an employee benefit, he was able to use the company's gym, restroom, and shower facilities as a part of his daily routine. Eventually, he saved enough money to get an apartment, and from that moment, he began to build a new life. That job later lead to a full-blown IT career, and in 2003, Jerry married his then fiancee, Neh...
