Jerry Habibi is an Iranian-American actor. He premiered The Persian Version (2023) at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, after a nearly three year period of being championed by Iranian-American director, Maryam Keshavarz, to portray his role as 'Abbas'. The film debuted to praise from Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and more. His role in the 2023 Sundance U.S. Dramatic Award-Winning FIlm has been praised for his comedic timing, wit, dancing, and natural delivery.He originally taped for the project in December 2019 and would go on to test for the role alongside many notable actresses such as Niousha Noor (Kaleidoscope) Medalion Rahimi (Pam & Tommy) and Layla Mohammadi over a nearly three year period. He was hand selected for the role of 'Abbas' and is the only Iranian-American male in the cast. Stage 6 Films (Sony Pictures Worldwide) heralds the feature, with production handled by a veteran team including Luca Borghese (Okja) Natalie Qasabian (Searching) Alvaro R. Valente (Mafia Mamma) Peter Block (Girl with a Pearl Earring) and Caroline Kaplan (Boyhood).He signed with Luber Roklin Entertainment a week before the film premiered at Sundance in January 2023.Habibi is a native speaking Farsi/English performer of American Nationality and Iranian origin. Born to two immigrant parents from Iran, he is a first generation Iranian-American. In 1997, a year after his birth, Jerry lost his father to a sudden death. He was propelled by this to always execute his best performance in the face of adversity and challenge.Jerry began training and performing in Persian New Year Festivals at a young age. There, he studied Persian theater, poetry and both traditional and modern dance. He continued on to act while in school and through community theater, He also participated in Competitive District and State-Wide tournaments in Texas, garnering him top awards in categories for choreography, poetry, original plays, and vocal performance.In 2011, Jerry had set his sights on attending The Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He ended up receiving confirmation from the director that his was the #1 Ranked Score every year auditioned. Unfortunately, as reported by the Dallas Morning News, his #1 Score could not compete with fraudulent admission practices. He still went on to audition every year to take advantage of the training, and this led the school's director, Karon Cogdill, to write him a letter confirming his record score and achievements.In 2015, he was awarded a multiple-scholarship offer from The New School to attend including the Dean's and Lang College Scholarships. In 2019, he taped for the Casting Society of America's 2019 Diversity Initiative for SWANA / MENA / MENASA individuals, performing a scene in English and Persian Farsi.Jerry has trained and studied various acting techniques from Stanislavski, Shurtleff, Chekhov and more. He has undergone various forms of movement and dance training with a particular focus in Persian dance. He is passionate about continuously diversifying his training and has converted his expertise in music production to his voiceover work and ADR workshops.Recent credits include a guest star role in Crunchyroll's widely discussed acquisition of the Animation series Natsume's Book of Friends (2008) in 2022 and as a lead narrator for an upcoming piece for PBS's esteemed 'American Experience' about the Iranian Coup D'état titled Operation Ajax (2022).Outside of his acting work, Jerry has b...
