Laura Jaques is a multi award-winning screenwriter who writes high concept comedies and dramas with timely story lines and memorable characters. Her first feature screenplay, a coming-of-age drama-comedy, has won multiple awards including PAGE Finalist, Academy Nicholl Quarterfinalist, Lonely Seal Film Festival's Best Feature-Film Screenplay, Oaxaca Global Script Challenge Finalist, and Austin Film Festival Second Rounder, among others.Laura earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Virginia Tech and has completed extensive additional studies in screenwriting. Highly collaborative and skilled at using interest techniques, she delivers exceptionally-crafted, marketable scripts tailored to production needs.As of fall 2019 she is working on a feature length comedy about four sexy grannies.(Note: While it's true Laura may look pretty darned white to have written Deepa By Design, which features a first-gen Indian American girl, her husband and in-laws are Indian, so she's been well immersed in the culture.)...
