About Raghad Chaar
Raghad Chaar was born in Aleppo, Syria to mother Chaza Afandi, a BSc Hons graduate in Nuclear Physics and father Mamdouh Chaar, a professor in Radiation Biophysics. Chaar's parents moved to Edinburgh, Scotland when she was 2 years old, as her father obtained his PHD at St Andrews University. She has one younger brother, Riqo Chaar who was born in Edinburgh. Chaar has been performing since she was a child. She won her high school's talent competition by singing 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Women' by Britney Spears. After a year of studying Events Management, Chaar spent 4 years at Edinburgh's Telford College successfully graduating with an HND in Acting and Performance. In 2011 Chaar gained a place at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she trained in BA Acting and graduated in 2014. Her first role out of drama school was Mary Queen of Scots in 'Mary, the Last Farewell' produced by Suzanne Lofthus and directed by Jo Rush. Chaar's first job in London was in 'How to Hold your Breath' at the Royal Court starring Maxine Peake. Her first television role was Lilith in Peter Kosminsky's The State (2017), which lead to Chaar being cast in the BBC and Netflix Drama Collateral (2018) directed by S.J. Clarkson and starring Carey Mulligan. Chaar's debut on the London stage was at the Bridge Theatre playing Fatima in 'Two Ladies' directed by Sir Nicholas Hytner and starring Zoë Wanamaker. Chaar was cast in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) where she played a Resistance Officer. This is her first Hollywood film. Most recently she can be seen in Billie Piper's I Hate Suzie (2020) on Sky Atlantic. This year Adnan (2020) - a short film in which Raghad plays a leading character, is touring the world in the festival circuit and has 11 laurels so far. The film has also managed to raise over £12000 for the charity Choose Love. Raghad has written her first short film 'Ore' and is planning towards her directing debut in 2021....
