Richard David Lecoin is an American Actor and Stand-In based out of Vancouver, Canada. Richard has been working in various roles within the film industry since 2005. Over the years he has worked as a Production Assistant, Background Performer, Stand-In, Actor and Stunt Double.As a Stand-In, his first experience was on Needle in a Timestack written and directed by Oscar award winner John Riddley. Richard closely observed his directing techniques, hands on involvement with the various sets and patience on set which set the tone for all other performers and crew. He learned first hand that it takes patience and attention to details to successfully direct a movie. It was there that he was introduced to John Riddley's Director of Picture (Ramsey Nickel). He admires Ramsey because he played two roles (Director of Picture and A Camera Op). They worked closely together on the project and developed a friendship throughout the years. Richard asked Ramsey to be D.O.P. of his future feature (Not yet picked up).The most important thing Richard learned about standing-in is to pay close attention to the monitors. Sometimes equipment may end up in the frame and other departments may miss that. Standing-in can save production a lot of money. With that said, Richard learned a lot about most on set departments duties.In 2020, Richard also worked on Solitary written and directed by Nate Parker as David Oyelowo's (Producer) stand-in during the pandemic. Like John Riddley, Nate Parker was a hands on Director. While filming, circumstances led David to not come to work which nearly halted production for a couple of days. Being similar in height and body structure, Richard was asked to also photo double for David. As a stand-in, Richard continued to learn about directing by watching Nate Parker's process.With years of experience observing the processes on set, Richard became inspired by John Riddley and Nate Parker to become a writer/director. It's a lot of hard work, but the end result becomes magic....
