About Rod Van Blake


Born in Rochester New York, raised in Chicago and went to high school in the west suburb of Oak Park before going to play college basketball at St. Mary's University for 3 years in Winona Mn. Enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1997 as a Comm Center Operator. Went to boot camp at MCRD San Diego before going to MOS school at 29 Palms California before joining the fleet in Okinawa Japan with the 3rd Marine Division at Camp Courtney. For that year deployment they transferred him to Marine Corp base at Camp Foster to work in the base Communications Center there. When rotated back to the United States he was stationed with 9th Comm Bn in Network platoon at Camp Pendleton Ca. While stationed there he played basketball in the All Armed Forces tournament on the All Marine Team earning the second gold medal for the Marine Corp in 1999-2000.Honorably discharged in February of 2001 he began to work as a security supervisor at an Indian Gaming Casino on the Pala Indian reservation in Southern California. Worked various other security jobs until taking a business opportunity selling telecomm services in 2009. Had a minor roll in an Independent film "Slick" that same year. Published his first science fiction novel Ancient Illumination in 2016 after spending a year in the Virgin Islands and now resides in Baltimore Maryland working on the sequel....
